Pictures are now available of the new gazebo constructed at the top of the wharf road in Freshwater. The site was constructed for tourists and local walkers to stop by and have lunch, or take pictures of the area. The project also built a set of steps so it will be easier to hike up to where the Googlie Hole is. You can see a long ways out the bay from the lookout, and the project will continue next year with plans to do a walk way over to the base of Castle Hill, put steps up to Castle hill and to put a rail around the Googlie Hole site. We hope to finish the trail up the brook so walkers can get to the railway track and walk to Argentia. The town dedicated the gazebo site to John McQue and Isabele Roache during the Christmas Party on December 2nd, 2005.

FCC Receives Provincial Recreation Award

Margie Hatfield, Heritage & Tourism Director of the Town of Placentia, reports that the Recreation Award that the Freshwater Community Centre was nominated for has been selected as the Provincial Winner. More details to follow as they become available.
The enhancements that put the Freshwater Community Centre in the running were such local improvements such as the Green gym, gazebo and The Loop Trail.
